Imad Khalili forced to choose between Palestine and Sweden

2013 Allsvenskan Golden Boot Winner: Imad Khalili

Earlier this week, Sweden manager Erik Hamren revealed his squad for the annual winter camp due to be held in the warmer climes of Southeast Asia.
Typically, this type of news barely makes waves in Scandinavia never mind the Middle East.

It was of particular interest for the PFA and fans of the national team because Imad Khalili was called up to join the camp.

This leaves the 26 year old Helsingborgs forward is now faced with a choice: Continue the process of making his one-time nationality switch or hold off to see if there is a chance that he could break into Hamren's first team squad.

Four Gazan players to join Dubai Camp

Pit Stop: Saeb Jendeya alongside Akawi, Wadi, Al-Diri, and Abdel Al visiting the Dome of the Rock

After much wrangling and red tape the PFA has managed to secure exit visas for four out of the six Gazan players included in Jamal Mahmoud's original squad. Houssam Wadi, Jehad Abdel Al, Eid Akawi, and Mohammed Al-Diri will make the trip alongside former national team captain and assistant manager Saeb Jendeya.

Anas Al-Helu and Maysara Al-Bawab were unable to travel as Israeli authorities denied them from exiting the Gaza Strip.

2014 WAFF Championship squad announced

Ahead of their trip to Dubai. Jamal Mahmoud has revealed a list of 26 players who will participate in the preparatory training camp.

Included in the squad are -- foreign based players including a first ever call-up for Allsvenskan top scorer Imad Khalili and Lebanon based duo Ibrahim Swidan (Tripoli) and Mohammed Qasim. Also making the trip are Daniel Kabir Mustafá (San Marcos/CHI), Murad Ismail (Wehdat/JOR), Eyad Abugharqud (Al-Baqaa/JOR) Ramzi Saleh (Smouha/EGY), and Imad Zatara (Åtvidaberg/SWE). Poland-based Alexis Norambuena was also called up but his release was refused by Jagiellonia Bialystok as the tournament does not fall on official FIFA dates.

Jamal Mahmoud decided to omit five out of the six Gaza-based players from the squad. This was due to Israeli restrictions preventing them from attending the internal training camp in the West Bank. The PFA has filed a formal complaint with FIFA as these acts fly in the face of FIFA's brokered agreement meant to ease the passage of players and goods between the borders.

Three players will be cut before the team flies to Doha. Below is the squad list in full:

Palestine to face Kuwait and Jordan ahead of WAFF Championship

The PFA announced via their official website that the national team will participate in two friendlies during their pre-WAFF Championship.

Originally, there had been murmurs about a match against Bahrain but it seems that the Bahraini FA changed their minds which prompted the PFA to organize a friendly with Jordan instead.
